What you get: 13 ratings, not one number
A single score out of 10 tells you almost nothing on its own. The face rater scores every feature separately, so you can see which parts of your face are carrying the result and which are dragging it down. The averages below come from 17,032 real analyses, and the last column is an honest answer to the only question that matters after you see your score: can I actually change this?
| Feature | Average | Score 7+ | Improvable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jawline | 5.59 | 17.4% | Partly |
| Bone structure | 5.6 | 16.7% | No |
| Skin | 5.3 | 16.6% | Yes |
| Facial harmony | 5.58 | 12.5% | Barely |
| Chin | 5.39 | 10.6% | No |
| Symmetry | 5.62 | 11.2% | Barely |
| Cheeks | 5.42 | 10.1% | Partly |
| Eyes | 5.97 | 22.6% | Partly |
| Nose | 5.36 | 7.7% | No |
| Lips | 5.65 | 16.4% | Partly |
| Eyebrows | 5.94 | 20.2% | Yes |
| Forehead | 5.39 | 7.9% | Partly |

Is my face rating good? Where each score lands
People almost always read their rating as worse than it is, because the casual 1-10 scale used in conversation is not a measured one. Here is the real distribution across 17,032 ratings.
The average rating is 5.59/10 and the median is 5.3. A 6 already puts you ahead of three quarters of people. A 7 is the top 8.1%, and fewer than 1 in 400 reach a 9. If you were rated a 5, that is not a bad result — it is the single most common one.
Which features score highest, and which actually move your rating
Eyes and eyebrows score highest on average (5.97 and 5.94), and skin scores lowest at 5.3. But the average is not the interesting part. What separates a face rated 8+ from one rated under 5 is jawline, bone structure and skin — each about 4.36 points apart between those two groups. The nose, which people fixate on more than anything else, separates them by only 3.5.
Two of those three are fixed. Skin is not — and it is the weakest feature for 38% of people, more than any other. If you want one place to start after a rating, that is it, and it is the least glamorous answer on the internet.
Symmetry and golden ratio get quoted together constantly, and they behave completely differently. Symmetry correlates with the overall rating at 0.95; golden-ratio compliance manages only 0.67. Any rater leading with a golden-ratio percentage is showing you the more impressive number rather than the more meaningful one.
Rate my face vs the attractiveness test: what is the difference?
They run the same model on the same photo. The difference is what each page is for. This page rates your face and breaks the rating down feature by feature — it is the tool. The attractiveness test covers what a score actually means: the full distribution, where you sit in it, how far a score can realistically move, and what the research does and does not support.
If you want the number, stay here. If you have your number and want to know whether it is good, go there. And if you want a rating for a photo that is not a face — an outfit, a full portrait — use rate my photo instead.
Go deeper on one feature
The rating above returns all twelve feature scores at once. Each of these pages takes a single one of them and shows you the full distribution behind it — what a normal score looks like, what moves it, and what does not.

How to get an accurate face rating
- Face the camera straight on. An angled photo distorts the symmetry measurement more than any other mistake on this list.
- Use soft, even light. Overhead lighting casts shadows that read as hollow cheeks and a heavy brow. Daylight from a window in front of you is close to ideal.
- Neutral expression. A wide smile changes the proportions of the lower third of your face, which is a third of what is being measured.
- No filters, no beauty mode. Some phone cameras smooth skin and enlarge eyes by default. That inflates the rating and makes it useless as a baseline.
- Hair off your forehead and jaw. Both are scored; hair covering either costs you accuracy, not points.
- Rate two or three photos. The same face in different light can move by a meaningful margin. A range is far more honest than a single number.
One thing worth setting expectations on: the average gap between a current rating and a realistic potential rating is 1.31 points, and the two correlate at 0.94. Better photography and better skin move a rating. Nothing turns a 4 into an 8.
